PERRETT

My great-great-great grandfather, James PERRETT, was born in 1794 in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, England. He was the son of Henry PERRETT (b.1766, North Nibley, GLS & m. 1790 Mary RICE).  Henry was the son of William PERRETT & Esther READ, whilst William was the son of Peter PERRETT & Mary TROTMAN and Peter was the son of John PARRETT & Jane JOANES, who married in 1696 at North Nibley, Gloucestershire, England.

James PERRETT, and his second wife, Sarah (nee)TURVEY, arrived in Australia in 1839 on the "Bussorah Merchant" from Bristol as Assisted Bounty Migrants.  They came with 9 children, 8 of which had as their mother, Jane CHARD, who died in 1835, having previously married James PERRETT in 1815 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.  James and Sarah settled in the Raymond Terrace area of NSW on the Hunter River near Newcastle.  They were farmers.

The children of James & Jane were : Mary (1816-1860), Ellen (1817-1903), Asodara(Ezra) (1819-1905), Sarah (1821-1874), Kerrin (1824-1833), Emma (b.1824), Llewellyn (b.1826), Selina (1828-1888) , Lewis (1831-1895) &  John Chard (1833-c.1835).  James & his 2nd wife, Sarah had Sidney James (1838-1924) before emigrating, whilst Joseph James (1841-1894) was born after arrival in Australia.

My great-great grandfather, Lewis PERRETT, the 9th child married Mary Ann GRANT (1833-1926) in 1855 in Hexham, NSW, Australia & settled nearby in the Raymond Terrace area.  They had 9 children : Margaret Jane (1856-1888), John Grant (1859-1941), Selina (1861-1884), George Lewis (1862-1947), James Ezra (1864-1950), Mary Ann (b.1866), Alfred Ernest (1868-1913), Albert Stewart (1870-1956) & Charles Henry (1872-1930).

The 3rd child, Selina PERRETT, my great grandmother, married James PRIDDLE in 1883 at Morpeth, NSW, Australia.  Selina died following the birth of their only child, Ruby Mary, my grandmother.
